Will Zalatoris adds name to host of PGA Tour player WDs at Farmers Insurance Open
PGA Tour star Will Zalatoris has withdrawn just before the start of his first round at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Will Zalatoris has added his name to a host of PGA Tour stars withdrawing from this week's Farmers Insurance Open.
Zalatoris has provided no official reason for his WD.
The American removed his name from the field just moments before he was due to tee off in Wednesday's first round.
Zalatoris was initially replaced in the field by Ryan Moore, but he then withdrew too.
So Moore's place in the field went to the next on the waiting list, Robert Garrigus.
At the time of Zalatoris' WD, former U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland also removed his name from the field.
There was no replacement for Woodland as it happened so late in the day.
The field was set at 155 players.

The withdrawals of Zalatoris and Woodland add to a number of high-profile PGA Tour names pulling out of this week's event at famed Torrey Pines.
World No.2 Xander Schauffle and World No.5 Collin Morikawa were the standout names to WD.
Schauffele withdrew on "medical advice" and according to Golf Channel the two-time major champion is rather worryingly unable to make a full swing.
It marks the first time in nine straight years that Schauffele has not played in his home San Diego event.
Morikawa's team did not give an official reason for him pulling out of the tournament.
Other notable names to WD from the Farmers Insurance Open include Akshay Bhatia, Harry Hall, Mackenzie Hughes and Nicolai Hojgaard.
There is expectation that Tiger Woods' upcoming Genesis Invitational will be switched to Torrey Pines as a result of the California wildfires nearby to Rivieira CC.
Perhaps that has played some part in a number of PGA Tour pros deciding to skip this week's event in preparation for the upcoming schedule.
The Farmers Insurance Open was once considered one of the most coveted events of the PGA Tour season.
Woods won the event a record seven times between 1999 and 2013, and he typically always added the event to his schedule.
Torrey Pines was of course the scene of his famous 2008 U.S. Open triumph when he defeated Rocco Mediate in a playoff on a broken leg.
Charley Hoffman admitted ahead of this week's tournament that the San Diego community and the PGA Tour "took it for granted" that Woods consistently played in the Farmers Insurance Open.
