Tony Finau has withdrawn from this week's PGA Tour event.

Finau was scheduled to play in the Grant Thornton Invitational alongside LPGA Tour superstar and World No.1 Nelly Korda.

But he has been replaced in the field by Daniel Berger in the hit-and-giggle team event.

Finau says the reason for his withdrawal is owing to his ongoing recovery from injury

The big American had surgery on his knee in the summer.

"I am disappointed to withdraw from the Grant Thornton Invitational as I continue to recover from my knee injury," Finau said.

"Playing with Nelly in 2023 was one of the highlights of my year.

"I look forward to cheering her on this week and am thankful for her support and understanding as I work on getting fully healthy.

"I'm grateful to my partner Grant Thornton for their support and for diversifying our game by bring the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour together in Naples.

"I look forward to returning to competition in the new year."

Finau has been the subject of intense rumours linking him with a move to LIV Golf

The 35-year-old was said to have been in advanced negotiations with the breakaway tour.

It was exactly the same story 12 months ago.

Finau clarified his position in an interview with Golfweek a few weeks ago.

"I'm more than happy where I'm at on the PGA Tour and looking forward to 2025," Finau told the publication.

"When I tee it up in Maui, [the rumours] will all go away, so I don't worry about it one bit."

Finau was referring to the season-opening PGA Tour event, The Sentry, which will be played over 2-5 January.

LIV Golf announced their first signing for the 2025 season yesterday.

The highly-rated youngster, Yubin Jang, withdrew from PGA Tour Q-School to join Kevin Na's LIV side.
