Sports fans all say same thing as Tyreek Hill pulls a Scottie Scheffler before NFL game
Sports fans draw Scottie Scheffler comparisons as Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill is placed in handcuffs before first NFL game of season.
Less than four months since Scottie Scheffler was arrested and placed in handcuffs prior to his second round tee time at the US PGA at Valhalla, a similar incident played out with Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill ahead of his side's first NFL game of the season.
According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, who was reporting from Hard Rock Stadium, he was told by multiple sources that Hill, 30, was stopped by police officers for speeding and that he was then placed in handcuffs when one officer did not like his tone.
Per Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus, who spoke to Darlington, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver has been detained and released, and he will still play in the first NFL match of the new season against Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rosenhaus told Darlington he "assumes this is a very similar situation" to the one that played out with Scottie Scheffler at the US PGA in May.
He added: "I think Tyreek will be fine today but we are going to have to look at this, I want to make sure he wasn't mistreated."

A Miami Dolphins statement read: "This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police.
"He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support.
"Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game."
Like Hill's own agent, sports fans have also been quick to draw comparisons to Scheffler's arrest on Friday 17 May, especially since ESPN's Darlington was also on the scene at Valhalla to break that story, too.
Just like Hill, Scheffler was also able to continue with his job the same day despite having been placed in cuffs.
Scheffler, now 28, was arrested just after 6am on 17 May as he made his way to Valhalla GC for the second round of the US PGA.
The two-time Masters champion was detained by police after he misunderstood the traffic flow situation into the golf club following a fatal collision that happened around 5am.
Footage showed Scheffler being frog-marched to the back of a police vehicle in handcuffs.
He was then taken straight to jail and Louisville Department of Corrections soon posted a mugshot of him.
Scheffler was booked in to his jail cell at 7.28am and released at 8.40am, meaning he was able to still compete in the second round of the PGA Championship.
He somehow went on to post an round of 66 but would go on to finish T8.
Scheffler was charged with second-degree of assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals.
He was due to appear in court on Tuesday 21 May but his arraignment was rescheduled to 3 June, a week before the 2024 US Open.
However, after reviewing the evidence and learning Detective Bryan Gillis 'broke policy' for not having his body-worn camera on, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell cleared all the charges brought against Scheffler on Wednesday May 29.

Scheffler dusted himself down after that shock incident and went on to win eight times in 2024.
He was last weekend crowned FedEx Cup champion for the first time in his career, winning a PGA Tour record first prize of $25m in the process.
Scheffler has won seven times on the PGA Tour this season, and he also won an Olympic gold medal in Paris last month.
The World No.1 confirmed his participation in a PGA Tour vs LIV Golf match set for Vegas in December.
Scheffler will join Rory McIlroy for the PGA Tour team, and they will face LIV Golf duo Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
