Rory McIlroy responds to whether or not he is going to LIV Golf soon
"He might know a few things" - Rory McIlroy responds to his former manager's comments linking him with a move to LIV Golf.
Rory McIlroy has joked his former manager Chubby Chandler "might know a few things" following recent comments to a publication linking him with a move away from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf this season.
McIlroy was speaking to the media ahead of this week's Cognizant Classic at The Palm Beaches, which was formerly the Honda Classic that he won back in 2012.
During McIlroy's press conference, the four-time major champion hit back at LIV Golf's Talor Gooch following his Masters asterisk comment earlier in the week.
McIlroy was also pressed on whether he could soon join Gooch over on the Saudi-bankrolled LIV Golf League.
That was after McIlroy's former manager Chubby Chandler told Bunkered last week there was a "10% possibility he's favouring his way to sign for LIV Golf."
McIlroy smiled and said:
A reporter then asked him if there was any truth to the "10%" chance.
McIlroy replied:
It is estimated McIlroy would be offered in the region of $1 billion should he ever fancy joining the LIV Golf League.
That is reportedly $400,000 more than what Jon Rahm accepted ahead of this season.
McIlroy said at the end of 2023 that he had never been made an official offer to join LIV.
Chandler also spoke to GolfMagic last week and he told us McIlroy has "performed the most unbelievable 180 turn" in his comments about LIV Golf in 2024.
He also told us what he thinks is holding McIlroy back from completing the career grand slam at The Masters.
