Revealed: Elin Nordegren's hilarious reaction to Tiger Woods' new girlfriend Vanessa Trump

Tiger Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren was reportedly shocked when he told her that he was now dating Vanessa Trump. 

In a report published by Daily Mail this week, Tiger Woods, 49, allegedly reached out to his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, 45, to inform her about his blossoming romance with Vanessa Trump (the former wife of Donald Trump Jr) well before the news became public.

Vanessa and Trump Jr were married from 2005 to 2018, while Woods and Nordegren were married between 2004 and 2010. 

PGA Tour superstar Woods and Nordegren share two children - Charlie Woods, 16, and Samantha Woods, 17. 

Nordegren is now in a long-term relationship with former NFL player Jordan Cameron, and they have a blended family of six children.

According to the Mail's latest report, Woods' conversation about his new girlfriend Vanessa with Nordegren took place at the start of the year.

Woods officially confirmed his relationship with Vanessa Trump in a social media post on Sunday 23 March. 

"Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side!," wrote Woods.

"We look forward to our journey through life together. 

"At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts."

Woods and Trump were spotted together recently at the Genesis Invitational. 

A source close to the situation confirmed to the Daily Mail earlier this week that Woods and Nordegren shared a cordial exchange in January. 

Nordegren was said to have initially been surprised upon hearing about Woods' new romantic partner.

"Her first reaction was something along the lines of, ‘Really? A Trump? Are you serious?’" the insider shared. 

While Elin found the news unexpected, she did not dwell on it emotionally.

"She took it in stride and accepted it pretty quickly," the source stated to the Daily Mail.

"Elin is not someone who reacts impulsively; she processed the information calmly and wished him well."

Nordegren's composed reaction is reportedly consistent with how she has handled updates on Woods' relationships since their widely publicized divorce in 2010.

Ever since their highly publicized split due to Woods’ infamous infidelity scandal, the former couple has prioritized co-parenting Charlie and Sam. 

Tiger and Elin have maintained a practice of informing each other about any significant new relationships, ensuring transparency regarding individuals who might be involved in their children’s lives.

“They don’t seek each other’s approval, but they do keep one another updated when someone new will be around the kids,” explained a source close to both Woods and Nordegren.

While she was not surprised that Woods was dating again, the unexpected element was his choice of partner. 

Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., comes from a high-profile political family, making the revelation more intriguing than Woods' previous relationships.

Following Woods' split from Nordegren in 2010, Woods has been in relationship with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and restaurant manager Erica Herman.

Woods' relationship with Herman ended in legal controversy when she filed a lawsuit against him in 2023, alleging that she had been unfairly removed from his Florida residence after their breakup. 

Erica ended up dropping the lawsuit at the end of 2023.

Tiger Woods has officially been dating Vanessa Trump ever since the start of 2025. 

Vanessa Trump, a former model and mother of five, has largely avoided the public eye since her divorce, but her past association with the Trump family adds an unexpected twist to this new relationship.

Though it is unclear how Woods and Vanessa initially connected, their growing bond was strong enough for Woods to notify Nordegren, indicating that the relationship holds some significance.

Woods then took to his social media channels following the conclusion of the Valspar Championship - won by Viktor Hovland - to confirm the rumour of his relationship with Vanessa was official. 

The former World No.1 confirmed last week that he underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles.

The 15-time major champion is now expected to remain on the sidelines until 2026. 

Woods has not played in a competitive PGA Tour event since the 152nd Open at Royal Troon in July 2024. 

As a result, Woods has slipped to a current 1,245th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
