PGA Tour pro takes six (!) putts after finding par-4 green in regulation
Belgian golfer Thomas Detry had a complete nightmare during the second round of the PGA Tour's Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.
Usually when the PGA Tour heads to PGA National, it's the world-famous Bear Trap that claims many a victim.
This wasn't the case for Belgium's Thomas Detry, who came unstuck in the most brutal and comical way imaginable during the second round of the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.
Detry's troubles occurred on the par-4 sixth hole at the course designed by Tom Fazio.
What makes this all the more remarkable is that the golfer, 31, ranked inside the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking, was on the green in regulation.
From 51 feet away, it took the World No.70 six (!) strokes to get the ball in the hole for a snowman.
His birdie attempt wasn't even that bad, but his putt ran out approximately six feet past the cup.
Detry missed the par attempt. Then the comebacker for a bogey. Then he missed again.
And again.
Then finally, after a maddening few seconds, he duly tapped in. Did someone say one of us?!
Quadruple bogeys are more common than you think but a six-putt?! SIX! That is almost unheard of, especially at this level.
As you could imagine, Detry was struggling overall and was in last place in the 144-man field after he trudged off the green.
ShotLink captured his woes in all its glory.
