Four-time PGA Tour winner forced out of Wyndham Championship
Four-time PGA Tour winner Harris English has withdrawn from the Wyndham Championship.
Harris English has been forced to withdraw from the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour due to a back injury.
English, 35, officially withdrew from the tournament shortly before his first-round tee time alongside Kevin Kisner and Daniel Berger.
Kevin Tway stepped in to replace English in the field.
The 2024 Wyndham Championship was postponed due to bad weather in the Greensboro area on Thursday.
Another three hours of play were lost on Friday morning but play did eventually get underway just before lunch time.
PGA Tour officials are hoping to get the first round completed by Saturday morning at the very latest.
It is hoped they will be able to get the second round done by Saturday night, leaving a 36-hole finish on Sunday.
If all 72 holes are not able to be completed by Sunday night then they will go into a Monday finish.
The PGA Tour would prefer that not to happen though, especially with the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs starting next week.
English is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour with his last victory coming at the 2021 Travelers Championship.
The American has struggled for form this season with just two top-10 finishes in 2024.
As a result of some indifferent form, English has slumped to 60th in the world.
He was once ranked as high as 10th.
English made his debut in the US Ryder Cup team in 2021.
The Americans ran riot that week winning by a record 19-9 scoreline at Whistling Straits.
English took one point from three.
