Camilo Villegas voted in as PGA Tour PAC chairman
Five-time PGA Tour winner Camilo Villegas has been confirmed by the PGA Tour as the next chairman of the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council following a vote by the Tour's membership.
Camilo Villegas has been officially confirmed as the next PGA Tour Player Advisory Council (PAC) chairman.
Villegas, 42, first joined the PGA Tour in 2006 and has since recorded five wins, with his most recent coming in an emotional victory at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2023.
The Columbian will serve as PAC chairman for the remainder of 2024 and replace Jordan Spieth as one of the Player Directors on the PGA Tour Policy Board on Jan 1, 2025, to serve a three-year term.
In his new role, Villegas is poised to play a pivotal role at the heart of negotiations between the PIF and PGA Tour, as they work towards a proposed merger slated for completion in April.
With a packed agenda ahead, he will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition should the deal come to fruition.
When Villegas begins his term on the Policy Board in 2025, he will join Patrick Cantlay, Peter Malnati, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson and Tiger Woods as player directors.
The PGA Tour membership had two choices on the ballot for chairman, with Villegas going up against PGA Tour veteran Kevin Streelman for the role.
In January, the PGA Tour announced the 16 players who will be serving on the Player Advisory Council. They are:
- Sam Burns
- Lanto Griffin
- Nick Hardy
- Brian Harman
- Max Homa
- Mackenzie Hughes
- Keith Mitchell
- Grayson Murray
- Seamus Power
- Scottie Scheffler
- Adam Schenk
- Kevin Streelman
- Nick Taylor
- Josh Teater
- Justin Thomas
- Camilo Villegas
The PAC will advise and consult with the Policy Board and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan regarding issues that affect the Tour.
