Charley Hull has told GolfMagic she would like to see a 'strong-minded and very knowledgeable' replacement for Mollie Marcoux Samaan as the next LPGA Commissioner in 2025.

Hull, 28, was speaking exclusively to GolfMagic just days after announcing her new partnership with Rockstar Energy

Marcoux Samaan, who was the ninth Commssioner of the LPGA since its formation in 1950, stepped down in December 2024.

The LPGA is still on the hunt for its next Commissioner and has even hired a search firm to help with the ongoing process.

Two-time major champion Stacy Lewis is one of the members of the search committee and she has reportedly been speaking to various stakeholders including LPGA players to get their verdict on the type of candidate who needs to fill Marcoux Samaan's shoes.

Liz Moore currently holds the interim position but she has already confirmed she does not want the job on a permanent basis.

Although two-time LPGA winner Hull typically likes to keep her head down when it comes to this sort of thing, she has told GolfMagic the next Commissioner will need to possess two key strengths in order to be successful.

"I don't like to get too involved with the Tour politics but I think we need someone who has a strong mind and is very knowledgeable," Hull told GolfMagic Editor Andy Roberts.

"I do think the LPGA is improving all the time. We have been lucky to have some really good LPGA Commissioners in the past so it will be a tough act to follow."

Marcoux Samaan previously held the post for three years between 2021 and 2024.

She became just the second female Commissioner in LPGA history following Carolyn Bivens (2005-2009).

Prior to Marcoux Samaan, current USGA CEO Mike Whan enjoyed the longest run as LPGA Commissioner from 2010 to 2021.

Whan is credited by many people as the man who saved the LPGA from complete collapse.

As a result of the great work by Whan and Marcoux Samaan, the LPGA is now enjoying something of a golden period in 2025 with players competing for a record $131m in prize money across 33 tournaments this season.

To put things even more into perspective, that total figure is up 90% on 2021.

While Hull is very much thankful and privileged to be playing for such large sums of money on the LPGA, she is certainly not changing how she acts as a leading Tour professional and role model for the next generation.

Hull might like to turn heads by ripping darts on the fairways and living life in the fast lane fuelled by Rockstar Energy, but she remains extremely grounded in her bid to encourage as many young girls to enter the sport.

"The women's game has improved so much in the past 10 years," said Hull.

"The standard out on Tour is very high, and hugely competitive, but we need to continue this growth by inspiring the next generation and be the best role models we can be.

"I am very passionate about growing the game and getting young girls involved, and I try to give back as much as I can.

"I notice out on Tour you now see younger spectators and more girls learning to play, so things are moving in the right direction."

Hull opened her LPGA season with a T19 at the Founders Cup earlier this month and she then followed it up with a T8 at the PIF Saudi International.

Hull was speaking to GolfMagic following her new partnership with Rockstar Energy.

The English golf superstar now joins Rockstar’s elite roster of athlete partners including surfers Alyssa Spencer and Olympic medalist Tatiana Weston-Webb; drifters Ryan Tuerck and three-time Formula Drift champion Fredric Aasbø; snowboarders Jill Perkins, Olympic Gold Medalist Red Gerard, and six-time X Games Medalist Reira Iwabuchi; and skateboarders Chris Joslin, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Keegan Palmer, and Cory Juneau.

"I'm thrilled to join the Rockstar Energy roster of athletes," Hull told GolfMagic.

“I’ve always admired Rockstar’s commitment to supporting the diverse and unique individuals who make up this team and am honoured to be a part of it.

"I’ve always been someone who has prioritized my own authenticity. I tell everyone 'I’m just me' and so being able to work with a brand that values exactly that makes this partnership such a seamless fit.

"I’m eager to continue to show my fans that it’s okay to be ruthless and break the status quo, and inspire the next generation to dream big with Rockstar Energy."

Hull told GolfMagic her favourite Rockstar Energy drink is the OG - The Original - but that she is also loving the new Rockstar Punched Pineapple.

She said of drinking Rockstar Energy: "It keeps me going and staying focused while I’m on the course, and is always the best energy boost during my trainings and workouts off the course."

Hull added: "Regardless what flavour you choose, what I really love about the formulas is that they provide sustained mind-body energy that holds steady for hours so I can always stay locked in when I need it most."

Hull is now hoping Rockstar Energy will give her the boost she needs to reach a personal season goal of running 5k in sub 20 minutes.

"I know that goal is going to be very tough but it’s giving me motivation in my training and hopefully the Rockstar Energy drinks will keep me feeling energised!"
