Phil Mickelson's new caddie confirmed ahead of next LIV Golf event and Masters
Report: Phil Mickelson has picked up veteran caddie Jon Yarbrough after brother Tim announces retirement.
Phil Mickelson has reportedly picked up veteran caddie Jon Yarbrough after his brother Tim Mickelson announced his retirement, according to Golfweek.
Mickelson, 53, confirmed his younger brother Tim was stepping away from his bag on 26 March.
Lefty took to Twitter / X to reveal the news.
He said Tim's decision to retire will allow him to spend more time with his family.
I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life.
So much has changed since he was single and we started… pic.twitter.com/BvGORzyelm— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) March 26, 2024
Mickelson tweeted:
Prior to working for the six-time major champion, Tim worked as Jon Rahm's agent, as well as a golf coach at Arizona State.
Tim, who is seven years younger than Phil, was on Mickelson's bag for three victories, none bigger than the 2021 US PGA at Kiawah Island where Lefty became the oldest major champion in history aged 50 years and 11 months.
He was also on the bag for wins at the 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship and 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Mickelson then famously bolted to LIV Golf in the summer of 2022 as he reportedly agreed to a fee of $200m.
Phil Mickelson's new caddie is Jon Yarbrough
But with the Mickelson brothers now parting ways on the fairways, it is understood by Golfweek that veteran looper Jon Yarbrough will now take the reigns.
Yarbrough has caddied on the PGA Tour for more than 20 years, working with the likes of multiple winner Scott Stalings for a decade.
He has also caddied for the likes of Gary Woodland, Bill Haas and Smylie Kaufman, as well as Suzann Pettersen, Kelly Robbins and Morgan Pressel.

Yarbrough's first event on the bag of Mickelson will be at LIV Golf Miami next week.
They will then head over to The Masters.
According to Pro Golf Critic, Mickelson and Yarbrough have already scouted Augusta.
Mickelson is a three-time Masters champion having slipped on the green jacket in 2004, 2006 and 2010.
Despite falling to 156th in the Official World Golf Rankings right now, Mickelson is able to compete at The Masters for as long as he wishes as a result of being a past champion of the tournament.
