LIV Golf's Sergio Garcia makes bold statement ahead of Euro 2024 final

If you thought Sergio Garcia's second-round fit had a fiery Spanish feel about it, just wait until you see what the home favourite is wearing in the final round of LIV Golf Andalucia.

Garcia, 44, took to X / Twitter after his second round at LIV Golf Andalucia to reveal what's in store for him and his fellow Fireballs at the famous Real Club Valderrama on Sunday. 

For context, Garcia is gripped by football fever at the moment with his beloved nation set to take on England in the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday night. 

The Fireballs GC captain sported a red cap, yellow shirt and red trousers for his second round. 

But apparently Sunday will be even bolder. 

'My fit tomorrow is going to be even more [fire emoji] than today [crying laughter emoji]', tweeted Garcia less than 24 hours before the Euro 2024 final.

Unfortunately the splash of red and yellow did little to ignite the flame for Garcia in the second round as he slumped to a 2-over 73.

It sent Garcia back to level par in T11 alongside his Spanish compatriot Jon Rahm. 

Garcia trails Anirban Lahiri, who he played alongside on Saturday.

The talented Indian surged home for an impressive 5-under 66 to move to 7-under par for the tournament.

Lahiri, who represents Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC, now finds himself four shots clear of Danny Lee heading into the final round. 

Valderrama has typically always proven a stern test through the years, most notably when hosting annual tournaments on the European Tour and the 1997 Ryder Cup. 

The story has been no different so far on LIV Golf this week with just 10 players currently under par heading into the final round of the 54-hole event. 

DeChambeau is one of those players at 1-under par. 

Football-mad Garcia will be thankful the final round of LIV Golf Andalucia finishes well before the start of the Euro 2024 final.

All groups will tee off at 1.05pm local time in the shotgun start, meaning everyone will be done several hours before kick off in Berlin. 

The story is unfortunately not the same at the Scottish Open. 

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have bizarrely decided not to bring forward final-round tee times.

Ludvig Aberg and Bob MacIntyre are teeing off at 3.40pm, meaning they will finish very close to the start of the final.

Should the tournament go into extra holes, then it's fair to say viewing figures will be dramatically reduced. 

Garcia last week failed to qualify for next week's 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon, Scotland.

It marks the second consecutive year Garcia has not made it through Open qualifying. 

Garcia threw a tantrum when handed a slow play warning during his Open qualifier at West Lancs. 

The Spaniard considers he should have been handed an invite to compete in The Open. 

He is currently on 99 major appearances.
