DP World Tour and PGA Tour make bizarre Scottish Open decision ahead of Euro 2024 final
Scottish Open Final Round Tee Times: leading groups to finish as Euro 2024 final kicks off
The leading groups at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open will be in a race against time to finish their rounds before England vs Spain kick off in the Euro 2024 final.
The DP World Tour and PGA Tour have decided not to bring forward final-round tee times on Sunday despite a certain big football match taking place at 8pm local time.
While the majority of players and officials will no doubt want to get done in time to watch the big game, the decision to not bring tee times forward will more than likely contribute to a decrease in viewing figures come the end of tournament play.
A large number of sports fans will no doubt be tuning over to watch the build-up to the Euro 2024 final at around 7pm.
That will be several holes before the conclusion of the Scottish Open.
Scottish fans on the other hand will likely be more than happy to be watching golf instead of England competing in a final.
Sweden's Ludvig Aberg takes a two-shot lead over Scotland's Bob MacIntyre heading into the final round.
Aberg, a big Liverpool fan, will join MacIntyre in the final match of the day at 3.40pm.
With two-balls typically taking just over the four-hour mark, it will mean the Scottish Open will be ending just as the Euro 2024 final is kicking off in Berlin, Germany.
Should the Scottish Open go into extra holes, then the tournament will likely not be over until half time of England vs Spain.
This is exactly what happened at the 2021 Scottish Open when Min Woo Lee went on to defeat Thomas Detry and Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff.
England's Fitzpatrick completely missed his nation take the lead in the Euro 2021 final at Wembley, but he did get back in time to catch Italy win on pens.
England's Tommy Fleetwood, a big Everton fan, will be keen to get done in time for kick off, but he should be fine as he tees off alongside Germany's Max Kieffer at 2.45pm.
Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, a huge Manchester United fan, is five shots off the pace and he tees off alongside Italy's Matteo Manassero at 2.56pm.
