LIV Golf secure huge deal ahead of 2024 season opener
LIV Golf have secured a major deal with Spanish streaming platform Movistar Plus+ which also showcases coverage of the Ryder Cup, men's majors and PGA Tour.
Just one of the many problems LIV Golf has faced since its inception is the ability to attract eyeballs.
The breakaway tour has been streaming on YouTube since their inaugural 2022 campaign and through their own app.
After a lot of hard work, LIV finally secured a TV deal with a U.S. network, the CW, last January.
But you always want more. That is where the money is made.
LIV will be hoping the addition of Jon Rahm, the reigning Masters champion and international star, will have an immediate impact.
Rahm will be making his LIV debut this week in Mayakoba, Mexico.
And Spanish fans will now be able to watch the 29-year-old after LIV confirmed a deal with Movistar Plus+.
Movistar Plus+ is the premiere provider of golf content in Spain.
It carries coverage of the all the majors, Ryder Cup, PGA Tour, DP World Tour and the Solheim Cup.
"We're thrilled to partner with Movistar Plus+," said LIV Golf chief media officer Will Staeger.
"LIV Golf's goal from the beginning has been to introduce golf to new audiences around the world.
"Our team has worked diligently to expand streaming and traditional viewing options, through partnerships with platforms like Movistar Plus+.
"Over the next few weeks, we will be rolling out more than a dozen new or expanded distribution partnerships, as well as innovative plans for Friday coverage, to continue building off the momentum from our first two seasons."
LIV's third season will see the breakaway tour play 14 events in eight countries.
Undoubtedly, Spanish fans will also been keen on attending LIV's event at Valderrama in July.
