LIV Golf scolded after latest player signing confirmed: "Why even bother?!"
LIV Golf's South African Stinger side have confirmed Branden Grace has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
Golf fans were questioning what the point of LIV Golf's relegation zone was after it was confirmed Branden Grace has re-signed with the breakaway tour.
Grace has been a part of LIV Golf since its noisy introduction to the sport in 2022.
Unsurprisingly, Grace found a home alongside the all-South African Stinger team, which is captained by former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.
Grace endured a thoroughly miserable campaign with LIV in 2024, though, and was booted out after finishing in the relegation zone.
He almost won his spot back with the lucrative league at LIV's version of Q-School in December, but Max Lee pulled away down the stretch to claim the golden ticket.
Oosthuizen has decided to throw Grace, 36, a lifeline and convinced LIV bosses to offer Grace a two-year deal.
The Stingers also boast former Masters champ Charl Schwartzel and Dean Burmester.
"I am delighted to be back with Stinger GC," Grace said. "2024 was a challenging year for me.
"I was playing with a wrist injury during the early part of the season and struggled to gain any momentum from there.
"My form improved during the later stages of the campaign and my game is tracking in the right direction.
"I feel confident that I can carry that through into 2025."
Oosthuizen said: "While 2024 was a tough year for him, we must not overlook his consistent performances in the two previous seasons.
"His return was also supported by a strong business case.
"We are looking to grow the Stinger GC brand and commercial presence in South Africa, and his profile and popularity, in the country, will help us to achieve that."
In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, many golf fans on X were questioning the point of the relegation system.

Here's a few comments:
"Why even bother having standings when this is obviously just a series of 14 bro golf weekends?"
"What is the point of the drop zone then? Only the best or new and hungry talent should be rewarded."
"Sounds a whole lot like the good ole boys club."
"Love LIV, but this is dumb..."
The news of Grace's re-signing came 24 hours after LIV confirmed their full 2025 schedule.
Overall, six of the 14 events will be held at new venues for LIV Golf.
For the very first time, LIV will head to Cub Golf de Chapultepec in Mexico City. The site hosted PGA Tour events over 20217-2020.
Elsewhere, LIV will play at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, which hosted the 2024 Solheim Cup.
LIV will also finish its season at The Cardinal at Saint John's Resort in Plymouth, Michigan.
What else is happening with LIV?
Former Masters champion Bubba Watson has signed Ben Campbell, 32, to his RangeGoats side.
Campbell was a LIV reserve in 2024 and almost won earned a spot in LIV with his performances on the Asian Tour's International Series' order of merit.
Tom McKibbin, a highly-rated youngster born in the same town as Rory McIlroy, has reportedly agreed to join Jon Rahm's team.

McKibbin, 22, refused to comment on the topic when he was asked about the media speculation ahead of the Team Cup in the Middle East.
The event serves as a Ryder Cup warm-up, pitting a team of golfers from Continental Europe facing a selection of players from Great Britain and Ireland.
