LIV Golf pro WDs from event at JCB then posts pic from hospital bed
Marc Leishman was forced to withdraw from LIV Golf United Kingdom at JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire due to appendicitis.
Australian Marc Leishman was forced to withdraw after 18 holes of LIV Golf United Kingdom because of appendicitis.
Leishman posted a 2-under 69 in the opening round of the event held at JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire.
This morning, he was listed as having withdrawn from the $25,000,000 tournament.
No reason was given.
But now Leishman, who represents Cameron Smith's Ripper GC in the breakaway tour, has posted an update from his hospital bed.
A smiling Leishman wrote: "Disappointed to have to WD this week but health always comes first.
"I came to England with an appendix and will leave without it!
"Appendicitis is no joke."
Leishman, 40, was replaced in the field by stand-in Wade Ormsby.
It is unknown of Leishman will be able to recover in time to play the next LIV tournament at The Greenbrier in the United States.
That will be played at The Old White over August 16-18.
Leishman is currently 17th in the league standings.
Players who finish inside the top-24 are guaranteed a spot next season.
Golfers who finish below that number are placed in an 'open zone' and are free to negotiate contracts with other teams.
Leishman has featured in all three seasons of LIV thus far.
He is yet to win an event, although he has finished runner-up on three occasions.
Rahm meltdown
The aforementioned Smith fared much better than his teammate Leishman on day two at LIV Golf United Kingdom.
Smith finished the second round in a tie for second on 10-under.
Jon Rahm held the lead after 18 holes but fell back.
His day was marred by this furious exchange he had with a drunk fan.
