Tour winner confirms his season is over after thumb injury
Multiple DP World Tour winner Andrew 'Beef' Johnston has confirmed that he will not play again in 2024 after feeling soreness in his thumb again.
Andrew Johnston has confirmed his 2023-2024 season has come to a premature end after feeling soreness in his thumb again.
Fan favourite Johnston, referred to as 'Beef', has been struggling over the last couple of years with injuries that have limited his starts on the DP World Tour.
His infectious personality became apparent when he contented at the 2016 Open at Royal Troon in the same year he won in Spain.
His first year on the PGA Tour was derailed with a thumb injury and, when he returned, he hurt his back.
More surgeries meant that 2022 and 2023 were severely disrupted.

But he made a return to the game in November 2023 at the Investec SA Open Championship, where he missed the cut.
Since then, his results have slowly gotten better. His best finish arrived at the Omega European Masters when he finished third.
Johnston also finished 40th at last month's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth but has not played since.
And that will be the final event he will play on the DP World Tour this year.
Johnston confirmed on Instagram that he will now hit the 'reset button' to prepare for the 2024-2025 season.
"I haven't played the last couple of weeks, and my thumb isn't 100%, so it looks like the season is done for me," Johnston wrote.
