Jon Rahm makes surprise announcement about 2025 plans
Former World No.1 Jon Rahm has confirmed he will make his debut at the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour.
Former World No.1 Jon Rahm has confirmed he will make his debut in the Dubai Desert Classic next January.
The Spaniard has never played at the prestigious event which is held at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
In previous years, the former Masters champion opted to kickstart his campaigns on the PGA Tour.
Rahm would tee it up in The Sentry in Hawaii and follow that by playing in The American Express and Farmers Insurance Open.
But the 31-year-old remains banned by the PGA Tour after switching to LIV Golf last December.
Rahm will now tee it up in Dubai in a superstar field that includes the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood.
McIlroy won the tournament in January for a record fourth time.
"This is an event that I have heard a lot about and I am looking forward to making my Hero Dubai Desert Classic debut in January," Rahm said.
"I have had a lot of success in Dubai in the past so it’s a place that holds a lot of good memories for me, and it will be great to get back there."
The tournament's executive director, Simon Corkill, said Rahm's inclusion mean the 2025 edition of the event will mean it will have one of the 'most exciting' fields in their history.
He added: "Rahm's record speaks for itself, and his presence alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and other European Ryder Cup stars offers golf fans an unparalleled opportunity to witness the best in the world competing at Emirates Golf Club."
The 2025 Dubai Desert Classic will be played over 16-19 January.
