Patrick Reed ridiculed by tour pro after losing $750m case: "What a clown"
LIV Golf's Patrick Reed has had his $750m defamation case against members of the golf media thrown out by a judge on the eve of the Ryder Cup.
English tour pro Eddie Pepperell described Patrick Reed as a 'f'ing clown' after the LIV golfer had his $750m defamation lawsuit against members of the golf media thrown out by a judge.
Reed, who was labelled Captain America in his Ryder Cup heydey, was attempting to get damages from 18 parties.
Those included Golf Channel, prominent LIV Golf critic Brandel Chamblee and others.
In court filings, Reed's attorneys argued the defendants were involved in 'calculated, malicious, false and reckless attacks' that caused major damage to his reputation.
Reed was memorably accused of cheating during the 2019 Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
He was also involved in another scandal during the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
In recent years Reed has also been accused of being dishonest in his college days.

Time and again these things have been brought up by golf journalists, pundits and fans when discussing the now 33-year-old golfer.
In dismissing the complaint, the judge stated the media treatment he receives seems over the top but he 'failed to bring actionable defamation claims'.
In full, the judge said:
Perhaps this would have been an even bigger story in the golf world had this happened when the Ryder Cup wasn't being staged in Italy.
That didn't stop an interesting reaction online, though.
"I guess I'll cancel the check for eleventy billion or whatever his latest demand was," wrote one of the defendants, Eamon Lynch, who has repeatedly called out the golfer for 'sportswashing' since he joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.
Added English golfer Eddie Pepperell: "What a f---ing clown, let's be honest."
When challenged to 'be better', he added:

What a fucking clown, let’s be honest.

Although he is not competing at this Ryder Cup, Reed's name was brought up by Jordan Spieth before the contest.
Spieth and Team USA will play the Ryder Cup on European soil which means the Americans will face some hostile treatment.
Reed is all-too familiar with that. Spieth dropped a story about he deals with that compared to Reed.
