Miracle at Medinah: The 2012 Ryder Cup Diary & Official Film
If you’re anything like me, just thinking back to that incredible Ryder Cup at Medinah in September sends a shiver jolting down your spine.
From the heartache of inevitable defeat to that glimmer of hope thanks to Ian Poulter on Saturday evening – then that Super Sunday resurgence.
The greatest comeback in sport? You’d be hard pushed to find a better one.
Memorable sporting occasions like this tend to be a bit of a blur from all the excitement.

I can remember Tim Sills’ second goal for Torquay in the 2009 Conference playoff final vividly, and Martin Kaymer’s winning putt and celebration in Chicago is still fresh in my mind – but you always find yourself surprised at just how much you either missed or had forgotten about because of the champagne moments.
Ever sceptical about these kinds of “cash-in” DVDs, I approached this with caution. I’m not interested in just watching highlights of the three days – I can do that on YouTube.
I needn’t have worried. The Official Film includes never-before-seen behind the scenes footage, while Jose Maria Olazabal’s Captain’s Diary offers viewers a different perspective and a fascinating insight into a man so desperate to win for his old friend, the late Seve Ballesteros.
The Road to Medinah is a nice touch, including how players from both teams qualified, interviews with both captains and leading players, and stories from the unsung heroes who helped make the Ryder Cup the amazing spectacle it was.
Fascinating, insightful, intriguing, touching, emotional. Four and a half hours of golfing heaven.
The perfect Christmas present.
