Cleveland Launcher HB irons review

Cleveland Launcher HB iron review: designed for the high handicapper seeking maximum forgiveness

Price
£570.00
Pros
Unrivalled on the forgiveness front, so easy to get in the air
Cons
Chunky

The Cleveland Launcher HB irons offer maximum forgiveness for high handicap players in 2017.

Looks

Obviously they’re chunky. Cleveland have done what they can to make them look as glossy and appealing as possible, but there’s no getting away from the fact they’re maximum game improvement clubs.

Feel

They have a soft feel. Clearly not the most responsive irons you’ll hit, as they house a large cavity.

Performance

The most forgiving irons in golf. Off all areas of the face the ball will get airborne - seriously, we tried to thin some and they still got out there. If you duff one with these, you should almost pat yourself on the back because it’s quite a feat.

It launches seriously high - thanks to a HiBore Crown, steel face and low CG - and can post some serious yardage numbers when nutted from the middle.

Verdict

The biggest challenge will be getting equipment snobs to test these - because once they try them and revel in the forgiveness on offer, surely they’ll be sold.

Granted, they’re hardly a classic club to look down on. But does that really matter that much? You’re already wearing ridiculous golf clothes - you really think carrying some chunky irons is going to ruin your street cred?

If you’re a high handicapper that really struggles with their irons, you MUST try out the Cleveland HB set. It could transform your scorecard, and even better, make you enjoy the game more.
