Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim earn military service exemptions after winning gold
PGA Tour stars earn military service exemption after winning gold medals at Asian Games.

PGA Tour stars Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim have today earned military exemptions as a result of winning a gold medal for South Korea at the Asian Games in China.
Im and Kim joined forces with Yubin Jang and Wooyoung Cho to shoot a combined 76-under par total in the four-day event at West Lake International Golf Course.
Two-time PGA Tour winner Im finished second in the individual tournament, finishing one stroke behind Taichi Cho of Hong Kong.

Im shot rounds of 66, 65, 66 and 65 to finish the week 26-under par on his own ball.

After earning his gold medal, which now means he is exempt from mandatory military conscription, Im admits there is a lot of relief that he can now fully concentrate on his PGA Tour career.
Im said:
The South Korean thinks he can become an even better all-round player as a result of his gold medal exemption.
Four-time PGA Tour winner Kim finished solo fourth in the individual tournament on 23-under par.
Yang finished fifth on 22-under par and Cho finished 17-under par in a tie for sixth.
Im and Kim are ranked 27th and 40th in the Official World Golf Rankings respectively.
