Scheffler and Horschel react to potential LIV vs PGA Ryder Cup-style match
Scottie Scheffler and Billy Horschel have offered their opinions on whether the PGA Tour should battle LIV Golf Ryder Cup-style ahead of the Presidents Cup.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler says the PGA Tour has "more talent" than their Saudi-backed rival as he offered his opinion on whether or not there should be a Ryder Cup-style match against LIV Golf.
Speaking ahead of the 2022 Presidents Cup, the Masters champion explained that his ability to tune out all of this drama currently dividing the game in two gives him an advantage on the golf course.
"There's been a lot of stuff going on, as you well know," he told the media. "It's important for me when I get away from golf to really check out. I've got a good group of friends at home that I like to spend time with, and golf is definitely not a topic of conversation very often. So when we're at home I'm able to check out, and I think it's a strength."

Scheffler, 25, doesn't have much to say about the LIV Golf Invitational Series in general. Neither does he have much to add about the LIV players' recent letter to the chairman of the Official World Golf Ranking pleading their case for accreditation.
He'll leave that to Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel, who had some very strong words to say on the subject.
"I mean, that's not up to me, that's up to the Official World Golf Ranking," Scheffler said on this subject.

"I play golf on the PGA Tour. Honestly I don't have much to say. I don't know the ins and outs of how the system works, if those golf tournaments are deemed eligible, if 54-hole events count, 48 guys.
"It's challenging. There's lots of ins and outs to that. I don't think my position in the world ranking has any sort of effect on whether those guys will get world ranking points or not."

One thing that has emerged with the PGA Tour's battle with LIV is the opportunity to perhaps commercialise it.
Some fans have suggested the idea of a Ryder Cup-style match between the two tours. Whether that could ever happen remains to be seen.
Has Scheffler heard about this?
"Not in my circles. I think the PGA Tour has a bit more talent than their tour does. I don't have much to say."

Speaking on this subject, Horschel told the media: "There was this conversation, I don't know when it was, and it was discussed. Yeah, I wouldn't mind playing in it, but at the same time, you've got to look at things -- what would the PGA Tour benefit from that?
"Nothing. If we win, we're supposed to win. If we lose, it looks bad on the PGA Tour.
"So it's really a lose-lose for the PGA Tour in that situation, and LIV's got everything to gain from it."
