Sam Burns topples Scheffler then destroys Young to win WGC Match Play
Sam Burns wins marathon WGC Match Play on tournament debut.
Sam Burns captured his fifth and biggest PGA Tour title to date following a dominant victory over Cameron Young in the final of the WGC Match Play.
Burns, 26, went undefeated all week on his tournament debut at Austin Country Club.
He took down Adam Hadwin, Adam Scott and Seamus Power in Group 13.
Burns then took care of Patrick Cantlay, Mackenzie Hughes, Scottie Scheffler and Young en route to the title.
It marks a fifth win on the PGA Tour for Burns in just his 46th start on the circuit.

Earlier on Sunday morning, Burns took down his good friend and World No.1 Scheffler with a birdie at the third extra hole in their semi-final clash.
Burns had raced into a 3 up lead over Scheffler thru three holes but then suddenly found himself 2 down around the turn.
He bounced back though and even held a 1 up lead up the final hole, but Scheffler made birdie to take the match into extra holes.
Scheffler had a three footer to close out the game on the second extra hole but dribbled his putt wide of the cup.
Burns took full advantage and went on to drain a 15-foot birdie putt on the next hole to book his place in the final.
Burns headed into the clubhouse for a quick bite to eat and then headed to the first tee to take on Young in the final.
Despite starting slowly when going down by 1 hole after a bogey at the par-4 2nd, Burns rattled off an incredible eight birdies in the space of 10 holes to run out a comfortable 6&5 win.
This year's WGC Match Play was sadly the last on the PGA Tour schedule, at least for now, but there have been calls from many in the golf industry to bring some form of Match Play contest back onto the rota soon.
I think we'd all like to see that.
Young's wait for a maiden PGA Tour title continues.
Earlier in the day, Young defeated Rory McIlroy with a birdie at the first extra hole in their semi-final match.
McIlroy then went on to beat Scheffler in the consolation match.
