Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed paired together at Memorial Tournament
Rory McIlroy, Patrick Reed and Hideki Matsuyama make up the headline group during the first two rounds of the Memorial Tournament.
Old Ryder Cup foes Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed have been paired together for the first two rounds of the Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour.
McIlroy sat out the Charles Schwab Challenge last week after coming eighth at the US PGA Championship. This will be just his ninth appearance of the season at Muirfield Village.
The Northern Irishman has made five top-10s in his meticulously planned schedule in 2022. He won his 20th PGA Tour title at the CJ Cup back in October.
As for Reed, his performance at the Charles Schwab Challenge was a vast improvement on the form he has previously shown this season, only making one top-10 in 17 events.
His tied seventh finish in Fort Worth may have been down to the former Masters champion changing from his PXG driver to a Grindworks club. The 31-year-old came fifth at Memorial in 2021.
