Justin Thomas is "not that pleased" with PGA Tour career
PGA Tour's Justin Thomas admitted he's "not that pleased" with this part of his career in a recent interview.
Justin Thomas, a two-time major champion, admitted he's "not that pleased" with his career so far on the PGA Tour as he approaches turning 30 years old.
Thomas, who will celebrate his birthday on Saturday recently did a series of interviews with Golf.com for their May 2023 magazine issue.
He spoke about many things, including his relationship with Tiger Woods and his new extreme diet that focuses on gut health.
He also admitted that he has been unhappy with where his PGA Tour career is at as he heads into a new decade of his life.
“The only thing that upsets me about turning 30 is that I haven’t accomplished nearly as much as I would have liked or wanted,” Thomas said.
He added:
Thomas has 15 career PGA Tour wins to date, including two major championships. He first won the PGA Championship in 2017, and then won it again in a playoff last year over Will Zalatoris.
He's been ranked as high as World No. 1 and won an impressive five PGA Tour tournaments in the 2016-17 season alone.
However, it's still not enough for Thomas at this point in his career.
Since winning the PGA Championship last May, Thomas hasn't been able to find himself at the top of another leaderboard on the PGA Tour.
After his impressive win at Southern Hills, the American was forced to settle for a tie for 37th at the U.S. Open and then a tie for 53rd at the Open Championship at St Andrews.
He was a clutch member of the U.S. Presidents Cup team in September that defeated the Internationals, and has recorded two top-10s so far in the 2022-23 season, but he's quickly approaching a year since his last win.
As a result, Thomas has dropped to 14th in the OWGR.
After missing the cut in a brutal fashion at The Masters earlier this month, Thomas rebounded with a tie for 25th at the RBC Heritage, a designated event on the PGA Tour, a week later.
And the 2023 PGA Championship is right around the corner.
It's set to begin 18 May where Thomas will have his chance to defend his title at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
