How much did Jon Rahm win with incredible display at Tournament of Champions?

Jon Rahm showed his fiercely competitive and determined nature in the final round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, hunting down Collin Morikawa to win for the eighth time on the PGA Tour.

Having trailed the American by seven shots at the beginning of the round, as well as making a bogey on his first hole on Sunday, Rahm's victory in Hawaii last night was arguably his most impressive yet.

He made nine birdies and a timely eagle on the par-5 15th hole, around the time Morikawa began to implode. The two-time major champion played holes 14, 15 and 16 in 3-over. Throughout the week, the combined score of the rest of the field for this stretch was 187-under.

Morikawa had unravelled in one of the most gettable parts of the Plantation Course. His collapse brought back memories of when he squandered a five-shot lead in the final round of the Hero World Challenge in 2021.

Rahm sealed victory with a birdie on the 18th hole, which left Morikawa needing an albatross for a playoff. The Spaniard carded a 10-under 73, while Morikawa only managed a 1-under 72.

"Bit of a crazy day. I'm not going to lie. I'm wearing black pants and the Sunday shirt that I usually wear because I was like, Oh, I don't usually like getting too close to Sundays in time," Rahm said.

"We're so far away, whatever, I'll just wear black. I didn't want to wear Navy every day. So I just put on the black ones, not that I even had hope, but I'm like we're going to need a small miracle.

"After bogeying 1, I was going to need somewhat of a larger miracle. It goes to say, you just got to do the little things properly."

Morikawa, winless since The Open Championship in 2021, admitted this was probably the biggest disappointment he's felt in his professional career after the final round in Maui.

The event had a prize purse of $15 million and Rahm scooped the lion's share of $2.7 million. We have to wait until the WM Phoenix Open in February for the next Elevated Event on the PGA Tour schedule.
