Tiger Woods named 2018 US Ryder Cup vice-captain
US captain Jim Furyk hands Woods vice-captain role at Le Golf National.
United States captain Jim Furyk has named Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker as his vice-captains for the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in Paris.
Woods will make his second appeareance as a vice-captain following his successful first attempt alongside 2016 US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love.
The Americans will attempt to retain the trophy from 28-30 September after their commanding 17-11 victory over the Europeans at Hazeltine.
"To win in Paris will be a great challenge," said Furyk.
"To have Steve and Tiger share the journey is important for me and for American golf. Their knowledge and experience will be an invaluable resource in our effort to retain the Ryder Cup."
Furyk has also named Stricker and former captain Love as vice-captains, and additional vice-captains will follow in due course.
"I'd like to do what's best for Tiger," added Furyk.
"If he could be valuable as a player, I'm sure we would want him playing on this team but I'm anxious to see how he plays this year."
The United States will bid to win their first Ryder Cup on European soil since 1993 at The Belfry.
