Jordan Spieth has warned players competing in this week's PGA Tour event at the Byron Nelson Championship to lay off the steaks and alcohol.
With temperatures expected to hit 100 degrees at new tournament venue Trinity Forest Golf Club this week, which reported does not have much cover, the Dallas native has revealed how the conditions mean a more watchful eye on what players eat and drink.
"Just a lot of hydration," said Spieth, when asked what players need to concentrate on off the course. "Lay off the sauce every night, no alcohol. It makes a difference if you have two beers on a Tuesday, it really does."
Temperatures are expected to reach 94 degrees on Thursday, while the forecast highs for Friday and Saturday are 97 and 96 degrees, respectively, with a 0% chance of rain.
“Stay away from big steaks," he added.
"These are the kind of stuff you start to learn once you kind of feel sluggish. I’m 24 and I still kind of feel a difference here and there."
