Ball tracking technology ready for worldwide use
Flightscope's new ball tracking technology was used for the first time on the Europro Tour
FLIGHTSCOPE ball tracking technology measured shots at a PGA EuroPro Tour event for the first time in golf history at Burhill Golf Club last week.
The Kerry London Championship welcomed 150 tour professionals to test out the innovative technology, which measures the ball's flight and roll until resting.
Flightscope will be developed into an app to act as a coaching aid for tour professionals and amateur golfers, linking smart phones and tablets to a main device.
In the past no technology had been designed to analyse the effects of a golf ball once it had hit the ground, but now FlightScope's ground-breaking technology can measure the entire motion of a stroke.
Cricket and tennis have already been using ball tracking technology at the highest level within their sports in the last decade and now golf is following suite.
Stephen Parry, FlightScope director, said: "Following the success of the event at Burhill, the system is in development for worldwide use in 2014.
Mr Parry also acknowledged Burhill Club's help pushing forward the FlightScope, he said: "Burhill Golf Club and the EuroPro Tour will forever be synonymous with this technology since it is a world first.
"Burhill Golf Club has been incredibly supportive and it has been a pleasure to work with the team there. Nothing proved too much trouble for them, enabling us to do our job efficiently and discretely to avoid disturbing the players."
