Wilson Staff launches online club fitting challenge
Golfers can use social media to win a full set of clubs and neXus bag
WILSON STAFF has launched an innovative Online Club Fitter service to help golfers find the irons, woods and wedges most suited to their game and then invite them to post the results on social media to have a chance of winning their customised set.
The 12-club Online Fitter asks golfers a series of questions on their playing style, shot trajectory and short/long game preferences to determine whether they are a ‘Feel’, ‘Control’ or ‘Distance’ category player.
Those who complete an online fitting before June 1 can post their recommended Wilson Staff iron model on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #makeitpersonal to be entered into a competition to win their set of 12 clubs and accompanying neXus bag.
Three winners – one for each playing category – will be selected randomly once the competition closes.
The online fitting service – which is based on the brand’s ‘Make it Personal’ advertising slogan – provides golfers with a detailed breakdown of their 12 prescribed clubs and allows them to watch videos explaining the performance-enhancing technology involved in each model.
“We strongly encourage players to get on a launch monitor and analyse their fitting numbers,” explains Global Director of Marketing, Doug Thiel. “However, the Online Club Fitter will help players walk into their golf shop and be aware of their starting point to find the best set of clubs for their game.”
The Wilson Staff F-C-D (Feel-Control-Distance) system is based on feedback from live fittings that proves every golfer is unique, in that they possess an individual swing and approach to the game.
The Online Club Fitter service also incorporates a video featuring Tour stars Padraig Harrington, Kevin Streelman and Ricky Barnes that explains the F-C-D system in more detail.
‘Feel’ players who value precision and shot-shaping will be most suited to either the new FG Tour 100 irons, FG Tour V2s used by Harrington or FG Tour M3 irons currently in the bag of Paul Lawrie.
At the other end of the spectrum, ‘Distance’ players who demand extra yardage, forgiveness and confidence at address are recommended to play the D-100 irons.
The new C100 irons sit in the middle of the F-C-D system, suiting golfers looking for a balance of forgiveness, power and shot-making capability.
