Since then he has moved from 78th to 4th in the Official World Rankings - winning 23 tournaments and amassing £14m in prize-money. “Wilson is more than just a brand name – it’s a unique mixture of golfing heritage and modern research and development expertise that combines to produce outstanding clubs,” he added. “I love being part of a tradition that includes the likes of Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen. There’s no doubt in my mind that Wilson Staff clubs Tim Clarke, general manager of Wilson Golf said: “This is a great day for us and the Wilson Staff brand. To have retained such a great player and such a special individual as Padraig as our main golf ambassador gives everyone associated with the company and our customers a tremendous boost and confidence in the future. | |
“On the back of three major wins in the past 15 months, it was not the ideal time to be re-negotiating a new contract! And as the hottest golfer playing right now, Padraig was obviously going to attract a lot of interest from rival brands. "But he was always looking at the bigger picture and what would help him achieve his next goals and decided that Wilson Staff clubs are the ones he wants to keep using. It’s a fearsome combination and one we hope will take Wilson Staff irons beyond the 61 Major wins.” Harrington will continue to contribute to the development of Wilson Staff clubs, such as the latest Tw9 wedges and Smooth driver, as well as the new Di9 irons.
