Haas and Ferrie complete Titleist double
Haas and Ferrie make it 20 wins for Titleist 910 drivers this season
There’s no doubt Bill Haas has been enjoying plenty of doubles since delivering the goods at the FedEx Cup finale on Sunday evening.
With two trophies tucked in the cabinet and an $11.4 million cheque sticking out the back pocket following his stunning playoff victory at the Tour Championship, Haas also bagged a weekend brace for Titleist with Kenneth Ferrie winning across the pond in Austria.
The Titleist brand ambassadors, both playing with their trusted 910D2 driver and 910DF 3-wood, secured their third career titles with playoff victories, although both were recorded in very different circumstances.
Haas, the only player to shoot all four rounds in the 60s in Georgia, sent his Pro V1x rippling into East Lake on the second playoff hole, before splashing the ball out with his Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled wedge to within three-feet for an incredible par save.
The 29-year-old, with momentum in his favour, then secured victory over Hunter Mahan with a two-putt par using his Scotty Cameron Studio Select Kombi on the third extra hole.
Haas was pouring in putts for fun in Atlanta, ranking first in putts per greens in regulation, while finding 62.5% of the narrow tree-lined fairways (5th), and bombing drives to 300 yards on average (9th).
On European shores, Ferrie had no such problems with the H20 after ending the Austrian Open at the first time of asking at Diamond Country Club.
Despite finding the rough off the tee, the 32-year-old Geordie quickly made amends by striking his Titleist 712 MB iron to within four-feet of the pin to seal the deal on his first title in more than six years.
Ferrie, who strung together five birdies in seven holes from the 9th, ranked fourth in greens in regulation on 79.2%.
Titleist Staff players have now accumulated 20 wins for the 910 drivers on both the European and PGA Tour this season.
