Davis Love lands Wyndham Championship with a mixed bag of clubs

Davis Love: In the bag

Davis Love relied on a mixed bag of equipment to become the third oldest winner on the PGA Tour at the Wyndham Championship.

Love, 51, ranked tied 18th in greens in regulation and seventh in proximity to the hole using a set of irons that comprises Mizuno, PING and Titleist.

The 21-time PGA Tour champion uses True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT 100X iron shafts that have progressive weights throughout, meaning the long irons have lighter shafts for a higher ball flight and the short irons have heavier shafts to aid better control.

Still regarded as one of the best drivers in the game, Love lived up to his billing by finding 71% of the fairways for the week at an average driving distance of 297 yards.

But the club that impressed the 2016 US Ryder Cup captain the most was the putter.

"My ball-striking is fine, but it's just as you've seen over the years, when I putt well I got a chance to win - I putted really well this week," said Love, who uses a Bridgestone Tour B330 ball.
