College golfer FORCED OUT of NCAA Championship after FREAK accident with a tee
A college golfer was forced out of the NCAA Championship after a freak accident involving a tee.
A college golfer was forced to withdraw from the 2023 NCAA Championship after he injured his foot in a freak accident during the second round.
The 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Championship was being held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Last week, the world's No. 1 amateur Rose Zhang won the women's golf championship for the second year in-a-row.
With it, the Stanford University sophomore broke the previous record of wins by any Stanford golfer.
The 20-year-old's 12th career collegiate victory broke the previous record of 11, held by Tiger Woods and two others.

Shortly after, Zhang announced she would be leaving collegiate golf early to turn professional. She's making her pro debut later this week at the LPGA Tour's inaugural Mizuho Americas Open.
This week, for the men's NCAA Championship, Oregon's Greg Solhaug saw his chances at becoming an NCAA golf champion with Oregon cut short.
During the second round of the championship, Solhaug, a junior, was involved in a fluke accident that caused him to withdraw from the event.
According to a report from Golfweek, while on a tee box during the second round, Solhaug stepped on a tee. The tee went through his shoe and into his foot, forcing him to withdraw with the injury.

NCAA associate director for media coordination and statistics, Rick Nixon, told Golfweek:
Earlier in the tournament, Solhaug was involved in another injury on the course.
Just a few holes prior to his own accident, according to Golf Channel, his errant shot hit the mother of another player, who says it fractured her finger.
