Jon Rahm hits full-on SHANK at Memorial Tournament, jokes with Justin Thomas
World No.2 Jon Rahm hit the shot that every golfer on the planet dreads on the 2nd hole in the second round of the Memorial Tournament.
World No.2 Jon Rahm hit a shot that every single golfer on the planet has nightmares about during the second round of the Memorial Tournament.
Rahm was 1-under-par in the middle of the 2nd fairway on his 11th hole of the day and he hit a clean, full-on shank that shot out at a right angle.
The former US Open champion couldn't believe it, nor could golf fans sitting at home or the spectators at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
Rahm had to pitch his third shot out on to the fairway, 47 yards short of the pin. The Spaniard made a clutch up-and-down for a gutsy bogey.

In true Rahm style, he hit his approach on the 3rd hole to five feet and rolled in a great bounce-back birdie. He carded a 70 to reach 2-under-par and he is six shots behind Cameron Smith after 36 holes.
Despite his embarrassment and disappointment at the shot, the 27-year-old saw the funny side after his round and he tweeted, "How I feel every golfer is greeting me right now..." with a GIF of Homer Simpson saying "join us."
Two-time US PGA champion Justin Thomas replied to Rahm on Twitter saying, "Welcome to the club." Thomas hit a shank of his own during the final round of the US PGA, however, he still went on to beat Will Zalatoris in a playoff at Southern Hills.
Maybe it is an omen for Rahm? He certainly deserves a break or two at the event this week which he lead by six shots after 54 holes in 2021, until he had to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19.
He won his seventh PGA Tour title at the Mexico Open at Vidanta at the start of May and his fourth career win came at the Memorial in 2020.
