Guido Migliozzi: Up For The Challenge
Challenge Tour hotshot Guido Migliozzi is writing a regular blog for GolfMagic this season. Here's the rising Italian star's first piece.
Hi guys, my name is Guido Migliozzi and I will be writing a regular diary piece for GolfMagic as I embark on my first season as a professional on the Challenge Tour.
I’m personally delighted to be able to work with the team at GolfMagic as I regularly follow the great content that features on this website. I look forward to keeping a blog which I hope will give you a little insight into what it's like starting out as a professional golfer.
Having played golf since I was introduced to the game by my father at eight years old and after several years playing top amateur events, I decided at the end of 2016 that the time was right to turn professional and start my journey on the pro circuit.
To give you some more background, I turned 20 in January so I am very much aware that I have a lot of hard work to do to fulfil my ambitions! I draw inspiration from successful Tour players such as Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy, both of whom had challenging and tough starts to their professional careers.
I am ready for all the highs and lows ahead of me, but thankfully I have expertise available from my management at Modest! Golf Management whose parent company Modest Management have a wealth of experience in the music world representing Little Mix, Olly Murs and One Direction. They are experts in dealing with young professionals and I am confident that along with my great family unit, I have a fantastic team around me to support me on my next step in my golf career.
During the off season I’ve been working hard with my coach on all aspects of my game, paying particular focus to distance control and shot shaping. I was also fortunate to get across and spend a little time with Phil Kenyon who is one of the best putting coaches in the world. Located at Formby Hall Golf Club near Liverpool, Phil’s assistant Mike Hasani is available for bookings and I would 100% recommend him for any golfers struggling on their putting to visit the studio for a two hour lesson! It focuses on all areas of putting from biomechanics of set up to the assessment of movement dynamics of body and the putter. All very clever stuff indeed!
I also recently agreed to endorse Galvin Green and feel very fortunate to have support from such a great company. Whilst I always knew they made the best wet suits in the industry, it's only when I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time with them in their UK office that I got to see the extensive range of cool clothing they now provide in a range of different fits and styles. Whether you like slim fit or the slightly more relaxed look, they offer it all now and am honoured to wear such a great brand. I recently took part in a shoot to model their winter range of clothing which was pretty cool!

I will shortly begin my first tournament on The Challenge Tour and I can't tell you how excited I am to begin my journey. Things will kick off for me at the Turkish Airlines Challenge at Gloria Golf Club in Antalya on April 20.
The Challenge Tour has produced endless amounts of world class golf professionals over the years and I look forward to competing as much as I can on this Tour this year. I've got an exciting schedule to look forward to and it’s a great opportunity for me to compete against some of the very best young talent out there. It’s a first class tour with an incredible standard of golf and I will need to work hard to compete with my fellow professionals. I look forward to the challenge, and am very much ready for the battle!
That's about it for my first diary piece, but stay tuned for my next blog in a couple of weeks. I should have some exciting news for you!
