Dunlop NZ9
We test ten of the latest putters. Five blades take on five mallets but who comes out on top?
Brand: Dunlop
Putter: NZ9
Design: Blade
RRP: £16.99 Best price: £16.99
Loft: 3-degree Lie: 72-degree Head Weight: 360g
Summary: Constructed from stainless steel for a premium feel, featuring a double milled face, creating a top spin and perfectly flat sweet spot for a true and accurate roll. Fitted with Gecko-Tac grip, the NZ9 blade ensures a secure hold, creating a bond between glove and grip.
Appearance: Much too shiny, the NZ9 causes havoc in the sun. Nice blade profile but the lime green is a bizarre choice of colour for an alignment aid. 6.5 (out of 10)
Feel: Clearly not aiming to be a top-of-the-range blade, we were impressed by the feel on offer for a £20 club. We managed to judge distances well enough, although the weight of the head did dull the feedback. 7
Performance: With the heavy head, you feel like the club runs away from you as you take your stroke. Long putts were difficult to gauge pace with because of the weight. We did manage to sink plenty of the short putts, though. 6
Verdict: A putter which is perfect for a beginner due to its price, we believe you get plenty of value for money here. Solid but not exactly spectacular. 19.5 (out of 30)
