TaylorMade TP Patina DuPage Putter Review

Delivering a rich and classic colourway to the line of TP Putters, the TP Patina Putter Collection features a naturally tarnishing patina finish. Through combining black nickel and copper properties, we created a unique reveal on the edges and sole of the putter. The TP Patina Putter Collection is built for golfers who favor a smooth and traditional putter shape still backed by unrivaled performance and technology.

Built to optimise roll characteristics in all models of the TP Patina Putter Collection, a new and thicker 5mm aluminum Pure Roll insert is specially engineered to bring the grooves into direct contact with the ball. As compared to a solid face, the Pure Roll insert’s 45° grooves improve forward roll, helping the ball start and stay on its intended line. 

This third-generation release of the TP Putter Collection features new signature TP screws that securely fasten the Pure Roll insert to the putter face. Through this process, voids and air pockets beneath the insert are minimised, creating an improved and solid feel on impact. 

VERDICT

The DuPage putter from the TaylorMade TP Patina collection features a more modern mallet design comapared to previous mallet models, mainly due to the slots that have been removed from the back. I think this has made the putter a little more forgiving as the weight is distributed more towards either side of the head, helping to level out your putting stroke.

I also really like the size of the head, as some mallet putters can be a little too large, but the DuPage looks a good size when the ball is at address, so you don't feel like you're going to put too much pace on the putt. It's a face-balanced putter so the weight feels very comfortable and suits a 'straight back-and-through' type of stroke.

The colourway of the putter is something I was particularly fond of and found the bronze finish a really clean look, but also something unique that you don't see often in the putter market.

The red PureRoll adds some more life into the putter and produced a soft feel with a responsive feedback, while the noise sounded hollow which I really liked.

From long range, the DuPage was fantastic as the weight of the putter helped me produce a consistent stroke, while it also performed well from close range, as the weight kept the putter head stable on shorter strokes.

Overall I think the new TP Patina collection from TaylorMade is extremely refreshing. The DuPage performed brilliantly and only adds to the impressive collection of clubs produced by the brand. The Spider putter has been hugely successful in recent years, but it's great to see new and top-performing putters being added to the TaylorMade collection.
