WITB Jake Knapp: Mexico Open
Jake Knapp secured his first PGA Tour victory at The Mexico Open. Here's all the equipment he used.
Jake Knapp claimed an emotional maiden PGA Tour victory at the Mexico Open at Vidanta on Sunday.
Knapp, 29, began the final round with a four-stroke lead and managed to hold his nerve down the closing stretch to hold off Sami Valimaki to win by two shots.
Shooting a level par 71, Knapp became the first player in PGA Tour history to find two fairways in the final round and still win.
Knapp got off to a shaky start in the fourth round, making two bogeys in his first three holes. Thankfully, birdies on both the 7th and 14th allowed him to reclaim a two-stroke advantage over Valimaki.
The momentous victory saw Knapp take home a winner's cheque worth $1.458m, as well as securing his PGA Tour card for a further two years and entry into the PGA Tour's Signature Events for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Knapp's win also takes him to just outside the top-50 in the Official World Golf Rankings, jumping a whopping 49 spots from 101st to 52nd.
Displaying blistering speed with the driver and nerves of steel with the putter, he led the field in driving distance (322 yards) and didn't miss a single putt within five feet over the week.
