TaylorMade has one of the most comprehensive hybrid lineups in the game, with three offerings: the core Qi35, Qi35 Max and Qi35 Max Lite.

In this review we are focusing on the Qi35 Max, which is designed to offer slightly more forgiveness than the core model.

Armed with a slightly larger profile than the core, the Max is an ideal choice for golfers who love the look of a confidence-inspiring club that looks like the love child of a hybrid and a fairway wood.

To find out how it performed, I took it out on the course before putting it through its paces with a GC Quad launch monitor at Custom Golf Works.

Let's get into it.

Player Level

The Qi35 Max is arguably the most forgiving hybrid on the market right now, making it an excellent choice for beginner golfers or even mid-handicappers who want a very friendly fairway finder in the bag.

TaylorMade Qi35 Max Hybrid Looks and Feel

Starting off with aesthetics, the Qi35 Max has the same light grey carbon crown that is consistent throughout the Qi35 family. If you've read my other reviews of the Qi35 line, you will know I'm not a huge fan of the choice. However, I will make an exception for the hybrids.

The mixed material crown looks dynamic, modern, and you can see the supercar inspiration seeping through the finish.

Flip the club over, and the dark grey metallic panels and green accents make the club look like something out of a transformers film. I actually think the sole design is a big step in the right direction, and noticeable upgrade from the Qi10 family.

As previously mentioned, the Qi35 Max has a slightly larger profile than the core model. Despite only being three cc bigger, you really can notice a difference when the two are sitting behind the ball.

That extra size will really appeal to higher handicap golfers, as it feels like you are hitting something that lies between a hybrid and a fairway wood.

The positioning of the head lies neutral and it's very easy to square the ball to target thanks to the white TaylorMade logo positioned in the centre of the crown.

Much like the core model, the feel off the face is superb, and reassuringly powerful. From out of the toe or heel there is a slight drop off, and it can feel a little hollow, but centre strikes are really on the money.

TaylorMade Qi35 Max Hybrid Performance and Forgiveness

The Qi35 is an excellent performer that delivers a good level of speed, plenty of launch, and excellent forgiveness from across the face, high and low.

During testing I found this hybrid incredibly easy to hit, and thanks to the weight being at the back of the head, it offered bags of forgiveness and a high ball flight that was ideal for attacking par-5 and long par 4s.

One of the things I love about this club is its versatility. Be it from the tee, fairway or out of the rough, it's such a good tool for getting out of trouble.

Due to it's composition it is slightly slower than the core model, but the Max is definitely still potent enough to de a very handy long game tool.

If you're a mid to high handicap golfer who perhaps doesn't hit it quite as far as you would like off the tee, then you might regularly need a dependable long game weapon that can deliver repeatable results on shots over 200 yards. That's exactly where this club can fit into your bag.

I used the Qi10 Max for a good period of time in 2025, and I managed to get my handicap down from 13 to seven. One of the reasons for that was that the Max gave me so much more confidence to go for the green. The Qi35 fills me with that exact same feeling and I will endeavour to keep the Qi35  Max in the bag for as long as I can.

This club is really good, so good in fact that I will say it's the most forgiving hybrid in 2025.
