Callaway Big Bertha Reva Review: "The most forgiving women's set on the market"
Callaway's new range of women's Big Bertha Reva clubs is designed to provide maximum forgiveness, so we teamed up with Rebecca Von Nielsen to see how they performed.
Designed specifically for women, with a huge amount of input from the Women's Task Force at Callaway, the new Reva range is aimed at both the avid and aspiring golfer who's looking for a set that can offer both excellent performance and a strikingly modern aesthetic.
The new range that features driver, woods, hybrids, and irons is specifically engineered with the female golf swing in mind while also carrying over much of the tried and tested technology we have seen in Callaway's men's ranges.
Iterations of A.I Jailbreak and Batwing Technology have both been tinkered with to better suit a women's swing, and the result is a set of clubs that offer outstanding forgiveness and explosive ball speeds, all wrapped up in a sleek modern construction designed to appeal to the female golfer.
Despite GolfMagic Equipment Editor Alex Lodge's desires to test the clubs out himself, we instead opted to consult the expert assistance of golfer and Instagram personality Rebecca Von Nielsen, to see how she got on with them.
Check out the video below to see what Rebecca thought of the new range:

Big Bertha Reva Driver Key Features:
- Big Bertha Reva shape: confidence inspiring head designed to offer maximum forgiveness
- A.I designed high-strength XL face: produces a large forgiving sweet spot
- Lightweight Jailbreak A.I: delivers fast ball speeds
Price: £449.00
Utilising Jailbreak A.I and a high-strength XL face, this driver felt very powerful. That springy sensation felt at impact was also reflected in the high launch and excellent carry distance Rebecca was able to achieve when using it.
The head's carbon crown allows weight to be pushed outwards and down, improving the club's MOI to reduce a loss of ball speeds on off-centre hits while also producing a high-piercing launch for improved carry distance.
The confidence-inspiring look at address allowed Rebecca to frame the head nicely behind the ball, noting that the gloss finish also looked really appealing. When we flipped the club over, she also enjoyed the muted purple colourway that paired well with the chrome detailing featured across the sole.
All in all, the driver provided excellent carry numbers, and even when struck from the heel or toe, ball speed was retained well, and a nice high launch was achieved.
Big Bertha Reva Irons Key Features:
- Precision Tungsten weighting: produces exceptional launch and control
- A.I designed face cup: delivers optimal ball speeds
- Bertha Reva shape: designed to inspire confidence and provide excellent forgiveness
Price: £1,089.00
These Hollow body cavity back irons utilise precision tungsten weighting both internally and externally to help launch the ball high and long.
The variable CG is optimised within each iron to produce ideal launch and spin characteristics and the A.I designed cupfaces have been engineered to retain ball speeds across the face.
Rebecca had absolutely no problem at all getting them airborne and noted that both the high launch and excellent stopping power on offer made them excellent tools for attacking greens with confidence.
The irons boast a long blade length, increased offset and a thick sole and topline for a very confidence-inspiring design. The chrome finish, with purple detailing that's consistent throughout the range looked fantastic in the bag, especially when alongside the full range of clubs.
The irons are available from five iron down to pitching wedge, which was also a big tick from Rebecca due to the fact that some women's iron sets don't tend to offer a five iron.
Big Bertha Reva Hybrids Key Features:
- Precision Tungsten weighting: produces exceptional launch and control
- A.I designed face cup: produces optimised speed and spin
- Jailbreak A.I with Batwing Technology: designed to produce high ball speeds
Price: £249.00
Versatile, forgiving and lovely to look at, the Reva hybrids are excellent long-game weapons that can be utilised from a variety of different lies effectively.
Available from a four all the way down to a nine hybrid, Callaway has provided almost a full set of iron alternatives for those in need of added distance and forgiveness. Incredibly easy to launch, these hybrids are ideal for golfers with slow swing speeds, as the head combined with the lightweight shaft will provide ample assistance in getting the ball launched high and long.
Featuring the same deep purple and chrome colourway as the other members of the Reva family, the hybrids look fantastic at address. While the added offset may not appeal to golfers of a lower handicap, it will certainly be reassuring for those looking to eke out as much assistance as possible from their clubs.
Creating a very springy sensation at impact, these hybrids also produce a satisfying ping when struck that is reassuringly loud without being distracting or annoying.
Callaway Big Bertha Reva Fairway Woods Key Features:
- Big Bertha Reva shape: confidence inspiring head designed to offer maximum forgiveness
- A.I designed high-strength XL face: produces a large forgiving sweet spot
- Lightweight Jailbreak A.I and Batwing Technology: delivers fast ball speeds
Price: £299.00
An important weapon in any golf bag, fairway woods are often considered to be the hardest clubs to hit. Callaway was obviously eager to dispel that myth, though, when they designed the Reva range.
The A.I designed high-strength XL face has a big sweet spot, and when struck out of the middle, these woods absolutely fly.
Ideal for long par 5s and tactical plays off the tee, Rebecca found them incredibly easy to hit, even from tough lies and longer grass.
The sole of these clubs interacts beautifully with the turf, gliding effortlessly over the ground without digging in, which helped prevent Rebecca from fatting the ball.
Available in three, five, seven, nine and a heavenwood option, there is plenty of versatility on offer, and the woods also blend seamlessly with the Reve irons and hybrids, giving golfers an excellent opportunity to create a mixed set that suits their needs perfectly.
Should you buy the Callaway Reva clubs?
Whether you're an advanced or aspiring golfer, any playing level could benefit from the outstanding performance benefits the Reva range offers.
Unbeatable forgiveness, excellent power and fantastic looks are just three from a long list of reasons why you should consider the range if you are looking to upgrade your set in the near future.
The clubs are certainly up there with the most expensive on the market, but you definitely get what you pay for.
