Michelle Wie West reveals limited edition Nike shoes for US Women's Open
Michelle Wie West revealed her special golf shoes for this week's major.
To celebrate her plans to step away from the LPGA Tour after this week's US Women's Open, Michelle Wie West revealed her special Air Jordan 1 golf shoes for her final appearance.
Wie West, now 33, took the golf world by storm as a young amateur.
At just 10 years old, she became the youngest person to qualify for a USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship back in 2000. Shortly after, at just 12, Wie West became the youngest player to Monday qualify for a LPGA Tour event, making it into the 2002 LPGA Takefuji Classic.
She then turned professional in 2005, and won her maiden LPGA Tour event a few years later in 2009 at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
Since then, the American has won four more LPGA Tour events throughout her career, including one major: the 2014 US Women's Open.
That year, Wie West edged out Stacy Lewis by two strokes to take the title at the storied Pinehurst Restort and Country Club.
Her latest LPGA Tour victory came five years ago at the HSBC Women's World Championship back in 2018.
Now, Wie West is doing one last go-around with the 78th US Women's Open, which is being played at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links for the first time.
"It's crazy. When I made the announcement last year, even still it was like, oh, I'm transitioning out, but I have Pebble. Now I don't have anything in the foreseeable future, so it's definitely an emotional week for me," Wie West told reporters on Tuesday. "I just realized everything I'm doing I'm doing for the last time. The putting drills that I'm doing, you'd best believe I'm not going to do another putting drill for the rest of my life if I don't need to.
To commemorate her final trip to the US Women's Open, Wie West has revealed the limited edition Nike golf shoes that she'll be wearing this week.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Wie West showed her Air Jordan 1 golf shoes with a 'wave' swoosh.
