Odyssey Versa #7
We test ten of the latest putters. Five blades take on five mallets but who comes out on top?
Brand: Odyssey
Putter: Versa #7
Design: Mallet
RRP: £110 Best price: £105
Loft: 3-degree Lie: 70-degree Head Weight: 343g
Summary: Versa putters accentuate the face angle at address, and highlight the face angle throughout the stroke. Versa #7 has a modified mallet with weighted alignment wings, a double-bend shaft and full-shaft offset.
Appearance: We were big fans of the black and white contrast and that really helped accentuate the face at address. It’s a pretty sexy, sleek design in our book. The classic Odyssey white face looks great, as expected, and the ball shaped hole at the back helped align putts with ease. 9
Feel: A typical Odyssey-soft feel. The new white hot insert sounds and feels a little firmer than the original but we enjoyed a very consistent sound, feel and performance across the face. 8
Performance: One of the best alignment aids around. While using contrasting colours has been around for a while, the Versa utilises one of the best we’ve seen for quite some time as two lines move front to back in the same direction as the stroke. 8.5
Verdict: We were draining putts with regularity and misses weren’t too far from going under. We think this putter will help you make more birdies and par saves. Decent value for money, too. 25.5
