The text banter between Matt Fitzpatrick and his brother is on another level
Matt Fitzpatrick shares hilarious text conversation with his brother Alex.
Matt Fitzpatrick moved one shot behind Rory McIlroy through two rounds of the Italian Open on the DP World Tour, and then took to social media to reveal a hilarious text conversation with his brother and fellow Tour pro Alex.
Fitzpatrick carded a second-round 69 to move into solo second and one shot behind tournament favourite McIlroy, who birdied the par-5 18th in darkness for a round of 66 and 9-under par total.
McIlroy did not have his A-game out there on the 2023 Ryder Cup venue but he finished well with two birdies on the final three holes to hit the front for the first time all week.
He also produced one of the flop shots of the season.
Matt's brother Alex, who turned professional at the Irish Open earlier this summer, also went round in 69 to move five shots off the pace on 3-under par.
Now onto the more important business... the Fitzpatrick's brotherly banter over text.

We join things with Alex gloating that he is narrowly ahead of Matt when it comes to driving distance after round one.
Matt then hits back with a screen grab of the leaderboard after round two.
Unfortunately for Alex, his brother has now moved ahead of him in the driving distance stakes, too.
Awkward.

Alex has now played in four DP World Tour events and has made the cut twice.
He missed the cut at the Irish Open and Porsche European Open but he did finish tied 52nd at the Cazoo Open presented by Gareth Bale.
Alex is certainly in contention for his best pro finish this week as he looks on from inside the top 20 heading into the weekend at the Italian Open.
