WATCH: PGA Tour caddie tells spectator to STFU in most polite way possible
PGA Tour caddie Aaron Fleiner had the most hilarious reaction when a spectator answered a phone call during the first round of The American Express.
Kudos to PGA Tour caddie Aaron Flener for handling this rude spectator perfectly during The American Express.
Ordinarily when something like this happens you would expect a more vitriolic response. Perhaps with a few expletives to boot.
That wasn't Flener's response.
We should probably explain. Flener is the caddie of 30-year-old Tour pro J.T. Poston.
Poston, nicknamed The Postman, is no slouch and has already won twice on Tour. At the time of writing, he has amassed nearly $15m in prize money.
He was playing the first round of The American Express and had found the fairway bunker at PGA West's ninth hole.
Poston was ready to hit his approach from 144 yards when a spectator answered a phone call.
Flener jumped in an offered: "Sir can you hang up the phone please, we're playing golf over here."
How courteous!
At this point Poston had even stepped off his ball and put his hand up to his ear, making a phone gesture with his fingers.
The announcers even had a good chuckle at this crowd control exchange.
Flener later took to X to clarify: "If you talk while my guy is trying to hit you get verbally reprimanded in the most polite way possible. That is my rule."

Poston went on to make a par on the hole and carded an opening round of 5-under 67. That was 10 strokes off the lead.
Zach Johnson and Alex Noren were tied at the top on 10-under.
