PGA Tour superstar Scottie Scheffler joked he was going to have to completely rebuild his swing after struggling with his driver in the second round of The Genesis Invitational.
World No.1 Scheffler has played his way into contention at the signature event in California after keeping touch with 36-hole leader Davis Thompson.
Scheffler hit a bogey-free 5-under 67 on Saturday at Torrey Pines' South course to reach a 7-under total and trail Thompson by one stroke.
He did so by only hitting five fairways. According to golf stats guru Justin Ray, it was the seventh round at Torrey Pines South in the last 40 years where a player has hit five or fewer fairways and carded a bogey-free 67 or lower.
A reporter asked Scheffler if something was 'feeling off' with the big stick.
Scheffler drew laughs in the media room when he responded: "You know, [I am] probably going to have to go rebuild my swing on the range this afternoon. Yeah, that's probably it."

Scheffler then adopted a more serious tone.
"[This weekend] I am definitely going to try to be in the fairway a bit more," he said.
"I felt I survived without driving the ball very well and I'm going to need to drive it better over the last couple of days."
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy hit five birdies in eight holes to card a 67. He is two strokes adrift of Scheffler.
McIlroy, who recently clipped his 27th PGA Tour title at Pebble Beach, said: "I hit a lot of really good shots. I played well for the most part. I scrambled well,
"I just didn't take advantage of the par fives. I made up for it in other places, which was nice. But I know going into the weekend I'm going to have to play the par fives better."
Elsewhere, several high-profile players missed the cut.
Viktor Hovland's woes continue. The Norwegian carded rounds of 73 and 76 to miss the cut by one.
Cameron Young, Jordan Spieth, Billy Horschel, Max Homa and Robert MacIntyre also missed the cut.
European Ryder Cup hopefuls Sepp Straka and Rasmus Hojgaard also missed out on weekend action.
