Italy's Matteo Manassero says a new perspective on professional golf will aid him as he goes in search of his first PGA Tour win.
Manassero was tipped for superstardom after he burst onto the scene in 2009 after an incredible amateur career.
He picked up five European Tour victories before he was 25 years old - including the flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth - before falling off the face of the planet.
The golfer has battled his way back to the top over the last couple of years and was one of 10 players that earned dual membership on the PGA Tour last term.
Manassero is yet to record a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour this season but after 54 holes at the RBC Canadian Open he has set up a golden opportunity to breakthrough.
He shares the lead with New Zealand's Ryan Fox at TPC Toronto after firing a 6-under 64 in round three to reach 14-under.
America's Jake Knapp (66) and home favourite Mackenzie Hughes (64) are also inside the top-10.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy headlined the field but missed the cut after a disastrous performance that saw him sound the alarm ahead of next week;s U.S. Open.
"It's definitely made me more mature and much better perspective towards golf, which at one point was everything," Manassero said when asked about a difficult couple of years.
"[Being] results oriented, which I discover being not a very good thing for my game and for me.
"So I switched away from that, and I try to get a good attitude, a good thought process, talk well to myself.
"Very basic things, but that's what I learned alongside a lot of other things that I long to get into the details.
"But I've matured a lot, and I have a better perspective towards, for example, a day like tomorrow."
Fox said he was looking forward to his tee time with the Italian.
The Kiwi landed his first PGA Tour title earlier in the season which saw him grab a spot into the PGA Championship field.
"It's been unbelievable to see him come back the way he has and not only get back on the DP World Tour, but then get himself out here," he said of Manassero.
"Yeah, it will be fun walking around with him tomorrow. It would be nice if we both go out and play well.
"It's always nice in a group when two guys are going well. Jake [Knapp} and I had that today where it was kind of the momentum was there.
"We'll see what happens tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to the challenge."
