PGA Tour pro who once told Rory McIlroy to 'f--- off' sacks caddie
Looper Kip Henley has revealed his anguish after he was sacked by PGA Tour pro Grayson Murray ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
PGA Tour caddie Kip Henley has revealed his anguish after being sacked by Grayson Murray.
If you haven't heard of Murray, the golfer is known for his controversial moments and personal strife.
Some highlights of Murray's include a beef with Kevin Na that almost turned physical on the driving range in Mexico.
It was off the back of a bizarre exchange on social media in which the American accused Na of playing far too slowly.
He also let his temper get the better of him during the 2022 U.S. Open by chucking his putter into the fescue and snapping an iron over his knee.
Murray was also the player who reportedly told Rory McIlroy to 'f--- off' during a heated players' meeting in Canada.
In October 2022 Murray was also involved in a scooter crash in Bermuda and needed 50 stitches.
Murray was also the golfer who, in 2021, wrote about the difficulties he was having with alcohol. He accused the PGA Tour of not helping him at all.
Those days, Murray hopes, are firmly behind him and he has a renewed focus for 2024.
He'll be back on the PGA Tour after earning his card back via the Korn Ferry Tour.
"I turn 30 in less than a month and I just kind of had a hard talk to myself and realised that I'm getting a second chance," Murray said after getting his Tour card back.
But he will have a different looper. Henley told the story on X.
He wrote: "Pretty tough news today. Grayson decided to "go another direction" this coming year.
"I don't think it was easy for him to tell me but it doesn't change it for me. I'm back out on the curb looking for a bag for next year.
"One door closes another one will open like always."
Henley continued: "I'm disappointed and sad it worked out this way but believe it or not I'm not really mad at Grayson. He's not a bad person.
"It's just a tough relationship out there at times. I spent the better part of 10 years with one dude and we are still dear friends. I'm still buds with most everyone I ever worked for."
