Former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover reckons you need to be 'a Nobel math scholar' to understand the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Fall.

Glover was in the field at last week's Black Desert Championship in Utah.

The tournament represented the third of eight in the FedEx Cup Fall series.

Said series was introduced in the 2022-2023 PGA Tour season as a way to offer golfers another way of securing their cards.

Golfers that have already established their playing rights can also vie for spots in the bumper prize purse signature events.

Glover finished in a tie for third last week, four shots behind the surprise winner Matt McCarty.

Other than pocketing $442,500, Glover jumped up nine places in the standings.

Only he didn't really know how his performance helped him when he was asked by a group of reporters on Sunday evening.

Never one to mince his words, Glover told reporters: "I still don't know how any of this works.

"I'm here because I didn't play good [in] the regular part of the year.

"I think I got three or four weeks off now and [I will] show back up in Bermuda."

Glover was referring to the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

He added: "All the math and... I don't know, you need to be a Nobel math scholar to figure it all out."

Glover did admit, though, that his confusion was partly his own fault.

"It's a money grab"

Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, is a highly opinionated player and he has spoken at length about the direction the PGA Tour has been heading in since the arrival of LIV Golf

Although he has played in the signature events, he detests the idea of them.

Glover told Golfweek earlier in the season they were just a 'money grab'.

He said he was glad that his career was coming towards its end.

"I just don't see what was so bad out here that we had to do all this [make changes]," he said.

"Let's raise some purses to make sure we keep some guys around but now we've eliminated a lot of playing opportunities for some really good players."
