McIlroy -11, Matsuyama -11, Hojgaard -11
What a sensational start from Rory McIlroy!
He pours one in right out of the gate to move to 11-under.
His playing partners settle for pars.

Huge cheers for Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele and Tommy Fleetwood.
You'd surely put your money on one of these three becoming the Olympic champion?!
Nobody has hit more fairways or greens in regulation than the Spaniard this week.
What can he do with his first tee shot?
Fairway.
Schauffele?
Also fairway.
And Fleetwood?
Another pearler.
Scheffler -11 (2*)
Strange shot from Scheffler right there.
The American asks desperately for his tee shot to 'go' and his golf ball obliges. Just.
He'll need to get up and down from just off the green...
McIlroy avoids the water with his approach at the first hole.
He'll have about 20 feet for birdie.
Hojgaard, from 147 yards, doesn't look too pleased but he's knocked his inside McIlroy's ball.
Matsuyama muscles his ball out of the rough on to the putting surface.
And here comes the final group...
Scheffler -11, Detry -8, Kim -10 (1)
Dreadful start from Thomas Detry here.
The Belgian missed the green right and long and was presented with a treacherous downhill chip towards the front pin with water looming.
He gets right underneath the first attempt and his ball goes nowhere.
He finds the putting surface with his second attempt, though, and by the time he cleans up he's in for a double-bogey six.
Meanwhile Scheffler rolls in his right-to-left birdie putt.
Kim settles for par.
J. Day -10, Aberg -9, Niemann -9 (2)
Huge putt from the Australian, as he converts from 10 feet.
He's four back.
Meanwhile Thomas Detry is having a nightmare at the first hole.
McIlroy -10 (1*)
McIlroy opts for a fairway wood at the first tee and finds the middle of the fairway.
Aberg -9, Day -9, Niemann (1)
The trio settle for pars at the first hole.
Aberg and Day have just taken on the pin at the par-3 second and have fantastic opportunities for birdie.
Scheffler -10 (1*)
Scottie Scheffler executes his approach at the first hole perfectly.
He'll have 10 feet for birdie.
Rory McIlroy has just arrived to the first tee box to an almightily loud reception.
McIlroy said earlier in the week he feels he would end his 10 years of hurt with an Olympic gold medal.
The 35-year-old last won a major in 2014...
Has golf in the Olympics finally arrived?
It looks like it...
Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim and Thomas Detry are next up on the first tee.
Scheffler is first up and he's got a fairway wood in hand.
He looks relaxed, and confirms with his caddie Ted Scott that the wind is coming from the right.
Scheffler crushes his first tee shot straight down the middle of the fairway.
Kim, from South Korea, gets a fortuitous bounce off the first cut of rough and his golf ball settles in the fairway.
Belgian Detry also finds the short stuff.
Day -9 (1*)
The Australian is first to go in his group and he fires a dart to about 10 feet.
Superb start from the former world number one.
Can he capitalise?
International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach is here to watch the action.
Aberg -9, Day -9, Niemann -9 (1*)
Sweden's Ludvig Aberg, Australia's Jason Day and Chile's Joaquin Niemann are the 11.06am grouping.
They each start five strokes behind Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler.
Aberg is first up and he opts for a fairway wood instead of an iron and he catches the right rough.
That's buried.
What can Day do? Pipe one straight down the middle.
And Niemann? That's perfect...
There is considerable cloudiness at Le Golf National this morning.
We are expecting winds of 5-10mph this afternoon and a high of 75F.
The spectators in the grandstand by the first tee have just burst into a spontaneous, acapella version of the French national anthem.
That's because Victor Perez is about to get underway.
He will need something special today if he is going to get on the podium.
But with this crowd behind him, you wouldn't bet against that happening.
The 10.44am grouping of Ben An, Corey Conners and Erik van Rooyen have just got underway.
An is playing for more than just a medal today.
If he clinches a podium place, the South Korean will avoid the mandatory military service in South Korea.
Likewise Tom Kim.
Here's a list of tee times over the next hour...
